First Restoration- Joseph Rodgers and Sons

I have owned this Rodgers razor for a few years now, however a few months ago the cracked horn scales broke at the henge.

It has been sitting in a cabinet until last weekend when decided to try to build my first set of scales. They are Black Walnut, finished with three coats of Ruby shellac, (1# cut).

This was also my first attempt at peening. I learned quite a bit during the process, but also became aware of what I still need to learn, (such as building my own wedges- I reused the old wedge here). This is obviously not a professional restoration, but I am happy to have my razor back in working shape. Thank you all for your tips I uncovered during the project.

Attached are a few before and after pictures.

I'd call it a win on many levels. You gave it a go and ended up with a piece that now holds some sentimental value and you learned along the way. What more is there ?
