Edwin Jagger DE89L vs Gillette Super Speed - 1960's

Does anyone have experience with the EJ DE89 and a 60s Super speed. How do they compare? Is the EJ smoother that the SS? I have had a Merkur HD and Progress. None of these were smooth for me. I have also had a 60's SS. This was smoother than the Merkurs for me, but not really smooth. I found 1970's SS smoother. So far Merkur open combs are smoothest for me, but I am really curious about the new EJ, due to its reviews

I've got the Muhle R89 version and a '65 Flair tip SS. The Muhle is a bit more aggressive than the SS and is my daily shaver. Loaded w/Personna Reds I get a BBS w/2 passes regardless of soap/cream used. I find this razor to be almost impossible to cut myself with (except when loaded w/a Feather). I can't say enough good things about this razor. I'm anxiously awaiting a new custom handle from CooncatBob.

What do you mean by "smooth"? Are you talking about how much hair the razor hacks off on each pass?
