buffer recommendation

all, i've been wanting a buffer for some time (not only for razor restos) and got a birthday coming up and my FIL is demanding gift ideas. i'd like to get a buffer, but I really don't want one that is 3450 RPM, I'd rather get a variable speed or 1750 ONLY buffer. i have heard all the horror stories and want to make sure I am playing it as safe as possible.

all that said, any recommendations? my search has been unsuccessful. all i can find are the uber pricey baldors and the rest seem to be 3450 (speed control for one of those maybe?). thanks!

I have both a Baldor and a Foredom BL, which is a smaller and less expensive industrial buffer.Take a look at the Foredom.

looks like most of the foredoms have been temporarily discontinued or are out of stock...

thanks for the suggestion of the foredom. I got one for my birthday and it's a stellar little buffer. haven't used it on a razor yet, but will soon.

Eye Protection (goggles), respirator, and work in the safety zone. Buffers can be very dangerous.

for sure (if i ever get to them). planning to buff at the lowest RPM possible. thanks for the heads up.
