3mm Punch Biopsy

I work in a lab that analyzes nerve fibers and wound healing. We routinely take shots under macro to analyze the rate of clotting, scabbing, and circumferential change to a circular wound 3mm wound.
Here is one of my thousands of wound images.

We also do stereo histology of 1/50th slices of these wounds, and stain for nerve fibers, both autonomic and sensory. I'll try to post one later.

I had an 8mm punch biopsy on my cheek. Then pinched and stitched. The plug was fairly interesting to see... Now I just have a 1cm scar.

Our biopsy method is much more shallow than that. They are 3x1mm.
We are looking at interepidermal nerve fibers, not muscular tissue.

Here is a nice shot of some sweat glands wrapped around a hair follicle. These are actually mine, it was when we were working out the kinks of the new camera/scope. I have plenty of small scars on my legs from self-biopsies :)

Green is stained fluorescent VI Protein, you can see the nerve fibers attached to the glands themselves.
Yes. It's real.
