Last worthy Bond flick was For Your Eyes Only.
You heard me.

My favorite was any in which Roger Moore was in it, so I KNOW that my taste is in question, but y'all have to admit he had some wacky villains, and really cool toys.
And I would be remiss in not mentioning Jane Seymour.
It doesn't help that Roger Moore was starring as Bond in my crazy hormone levels!
Isn't that the one where he jumps a road in a speed boat?I watched Live and Let Die yesterday while I was doing the elliptical yesterday. Great movie.

He was just too cool. And campy as the Batman and Robin TV series and I loved that time in our history.
The king of thread derailment strikes again! : Sorry but had to add: that voodoo scene still scares/creeps me out!Yep. That's the one. And Jane Seymour as well.
Producers were convinced or convinced themselves after OHMSS the Connery formula was dead. Hence the self parody in DAF, the gimmicky LALD only to circle back to the old formula with TSWLM, essentially YOLT , a big budget Bond that Connery wouldnt have been out of place in.
Then, finally , a leaner budgetted, simplified story more resembling the novels , FYEO. Which is why i said it was the last worthy one. The last Moore films were tired re treads (MOORE was sick of it and one could tell).
Saw the first Brosnan Bond, well done and acted but for me the magic was gone. And that was the last one I saw.
DAF. Diamonds are Forever. OHMSS. On Her Majestys Secret Service. LALD. Live and Let Die. YOLT. You Only Live Twice. TSWLM. The Spy Who Loved Me.
Capiche ?
I like the Blonde Bond okay, but they are to dark and violent to watch with a kid nowadays. The old ones were better done.
Which is true of most movies for me now. Lots of CGI because it's easier and cheaper than years ago, so the writing is not as good as it was.
Now get off my lawn you kids!
And yes, times were simpler, I get that, but good writers can write above a child's head and still make it entertaining for adults.I agree. Many of the old Bond films were fanciful, tongue-in-cheek, downright ridiculous at points. Much more serious and dark lately.
I would encourage you to give it another shot with Casino Royale. It's grittier than any other before it, but gets back to Bond routes I felt Brosnan missed in all of his movies. Casino Royale was well done. It was the first I'd seen in quite a while. I think I saw a second one he did too. It was good.I would encourage you to give it another shot with Casino Royale. I think my problem with the newer ones is that they didn't feel like Bond films. I liked the cheesy humour, spray painted gold women, keeping your cool as a circular saw is coming at your naughty bits as you slide slowly toward it on a table.
You know: the stuff that entertains a man perpetually stuck in sophomore year!
And another thing! Lol, my memory is becoming shot. The joys of a bleeding brain. So: depending on when I saw a movie in my lifetime, I can remember it scene for scene, or literally not at all. It like it's the first time I've seen it. Both a blessing (for me) and a curse (for those that tolerate me.)I don't know. I thought he kept his cool when he was poisoned while drinking his Vesper Martini. Or when he was being tortured and his naughty bits were, well, dangling. I like Casino Royale. My only complaint is I didn't think his love interest was all that convincing.
