Old Spice - T.C. Wheaton Company prototype

AnimalCatcher

Thinking of Ricardo Montalban
The bottle on the left was made by Hull Pottery from 1938 to 1945/46 and the one on the right was made by the T.C. Wheaton Company. Around 1946 Old Spice decided that they needed to use glass bottles instead of ceramic, as the ceramic bottles were unreliable. The bottle in the middle seems to be a prototype, as it has similarities to both the glass and the pottery versions.

The hull of the ship, as well as the waves and the banner are similar to the pottery version, but the ships rigging is more like what we see on the glass bottle that came out in 1946. The bottle is not made of a milk glass/opal like material like other Wheaton bottles but is clear and is covered with a whitish paint to simulate pottery.

I'm not exactly sure why Wheaton ended up using another design, but I would imagine it had something to do with the first version being more expensive to produce.
