Another shortage/price increase.

Wasn't sure where to put this one, but has anyone else seen the shortage/price increase in pool chlorine tabs? My local pool supply place is completely out of the 25 lb. buckets of 3 in. tabs and the price of the 50 lb. tabs has increased by about $30 from last year, IIRC!!

I went to the pool supply store today and bought the LAST 50 lb. bucket. The reason for the shortage is that the plant in Lake Charles, LA that produces 70 % of the chlorine tabs blew up last year.

Switch to salt water.

Use Bromine instead of Chlorine. It doesn't require any change in equipment and it's easier on the skin and eyes.
You just have to initially balance the pool water pH to the proper level.
People use Chlorine instead of Bromine because Chlorine is a little cheaper - until there's a Chlorine shortage.
