Weingut Tesch ~ Riesling St. Remigiusberg, 2018

A lean and enjoyable Riesling. Peach and pebble in the nose. Playful and juicy taste. Not overly complex, but still a solid choice.

I’ll just say it’s interesting. My wife ordered 6 bottles of this in a 12 bottle order. I’m looking forward to some of the more traditional red blends from Williamson.

Offered at an American small plates place locally. Interesting bottle. I wasn't ready for the bit of tartness after the initial fruit. Light with a short finish. Summertime red.

Meo Camuzet, Bourgogne, 2010

Pine needle. Dark berries, sour cherry.
Juicy in the mouth, again blackberry and sour cherries. Medium body. Playful. Not particularly complex, but boy, what a pure fruit. This entry level Pinot shows it's origin. Nice and delicate finish.

The contents of this bottle will evaporate pretty quickly...

It was a good bottle despite worrying about leakage. Had better luck with the tongs on our second attempt. There was quite a bit of sediment. Great fruity nose, but a little weak on the palate. More time?

Luis Pato ~ Bical/Cercial Sercialinho VV, 2018

A beautiful cuvee made of old vines. Ripe melon, black current, some fennel in the nose; juicy fuit intermixed with earthy notes. Ripe acidity, some bitter tones in the aftertaste, but that impression added some complexity.

We did a tour of the Kamptal northwest of Vienna and known for Grüner Veltliner as well as first class Rieslings. Sky was a bit overcast but the tastings were great. Unfortunately they had late frosts that hit the higher slopes hard so we will see a much reduced 2024 harvest from this region.
