Mandom Corporation is an Osaka-based manufacturer and distributor of hair care, skin care, perfumes and deodorants, and other personal care products, including cosmetics. The company was founded in 1927 by the Nishimura family as the Kintsuru Perfume Corporation and was known for their men's hair pomade, the Tancho Stick. The Nishimura family continues to lead the company today. The company name changed to Mandom (a portmanteau of "Human" and "Freedom") in 1971 after the 1970 launch of their line of men's care products that included an advertising campaign involving Charles Bronson. The company has about 2000 employees.[1]
