Introduction

The Sensor, introduced in 1990,[1], is a pivoting cartridge razor manufactured by Gillette (now Proctor & Gamble). It has leaf springs under each blade, allowing the blades to move vertically. It also has a lubricating strip, like the Trac II Plus and Atra Plus. Gillette introduced the "Sensor Excel" in 1995, which has rubber-like fins intended to stretch the skin as the razor is pulled across the face. It was superseded by the Mach III. Upon the release of the Fusion (which has five blades), Gillette also released the Sensor 3, which has three blades instead of two, but maintained the production of two-blade Sensor cartridges. Gillette also produce a "Sensor" disposable razor.
