Your hobby(s) ?

I'm a homebrewer and I love working on vintage bicycles. I've b÷n trying to get my wife's prewar schwinn going lately, but with three kids under 5, who has time for themselves?

Many over the years, from fishing, hunting, competitive shooting, reloading, 60's era Chevy big block muscle cars, music, movies but these days I just putter haha. I do enjoy woodworking, specifically with hardwoods. Cherry, Ash, Maple ...Ipe. Heres a pic of a shelf I tossed together one afternoon a week or so ago from scrap wood as a test for a shelving unit in my recently refinished bathroom. I have a feeling it needs to be twice as big....and maybe two more on another wall...

One thing I have learned in the bathroom redo. 100 year old houses really arent square...
 
There is a well known luthier close by that is wanting to retire (in his 80's). His son's have no interest in learning the trade. He is looking for someone to pass on his expansive knowledge &
I have a passion for all stringed instruments, so I am seriously thinking of taking him up on it.
I know this will be way more than a hobby, but I am looking for a change. I do have some woodworking experience, but this will be a different ball game.

I have been watching Rosa String Works on YouTube, how he can bring back a severely damaged instrument back to life is amazing to me. This is one of his mandolins.
