Your go to cocktail

Vesper

3 oz Gin
1 oz Vodka
0.5 oz Lillet

Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and fill with ice.

Stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Twist a slice of lemon peel over the drink, rub along the rim of the glass and drop it in.

This is my current fav as well. I prefer to specify Kettle One and Bombay Sapphire.

If you like the Kentucky Mules for warm weather you will probably like a Kentucky Smash also. Basically a Mint Julep with the addition of muddled lemons or limes to the mixture.

Manhattan (when made at home)

2 oz George Dickel No. 12 Tennessee Whisky
1 oz sweet vermouth
3 dashes Angostura bitters
1 semi-homemade cocktail cherry*

Pour all ingredients into an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir thoroughly until chilled. Strain into either a cocktail glass (if serving up) or an ice-filled rocks glass (if serving on the rocks). Garnish with cherry. Serve.

* Semi-homemade cocktail cherries recipe:

1 jar Trader Joe's Morello Cherries in syrup
orange liqueur
cherry liqueur
brandy (the cheaper, the better)

Open the jar of Morello cherries and pour off syrup, leaving the cherries in place in the jar. Add equal parts orange liqueur, cherry liqueur, and brandy to cover cherries fully. Replace the lid on the jar and refrigerate for 24 hours. Skewer individual cherries with toothpicks or cocktail skewers and garnish drinks as needed. Variation: Those who find the above recipe too alcoholic may substitute a complementary third liqueur (e.g., crème de cassis) in place of the brandy.

Dirty Donuts are so Good.
A classic Martini. In a mixing glass filled with ice about six ice cubes 3 ounces of Gin (usually Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray) and 1/2 ounce of Noilly Pratt or similar dry Vermouth. Stir vigorously for about 30 seconds and pour in a chilled Martini glass and garnish with a Pimento-stuffed olive.

Same here, but I'll take mine dirty. :)

Not sure if I've read this here, or elsewhere, but lately I've been enjoying this.

Ginger Ale
Bourbon
Lime wedge
On ice ....

Man, this is quite the nice summer drink. Is there a name for this?

<Is there a name for this?>

Jack and Ginger? Rye and Ginger? Pretty standard Canadian whiskey mix, aside from bourbon/rye.

1 part St. Germaine
1 part Gin of Choice (more citrus is better imo)
1 part Aperol (I've also tried Campari and a Campari Aperol combo...all good)
1/2 lemon juice
pinch of sugar
1-2 dashes of orange bitters depending on test (I like 2 but a couple friends prefer 1).

stir and pour over small amount of ice.

Finally float or mix in an "citrusy" IPA of choice (Sculpin?)...I now always float and keep floating until the IPA is gone.

Tried this today with Second Shelf Beer Co.'s Citrus IPA and it was very good.

A good gin (I don't just stick to one) and a good tonic (I usually use Q Tonic for availability and quality) mixed in equal ratio's in a tall 16oz glass with a full lime's worth of juice squeezed in. Love a good Gin & Tonic during the summer.

I also like a dry martini from time to time, preferably with lemon peel rather than dirty. I'll use one of many gins or if I feel like vodka I'll usually use Belvedere. Good vodka actually has some flavor.

And for those who like gin AND vodka, a Vesper Martini with 3 parts gin to 1 part vodka to 1/2 part Lillet with a lemon twist and you have one very tasty and refreshing summer cocktail with a nice kick to it. I really like Hendricks Gin by itself on the rocks but prefer Bombay Sapphire in the Vesper along with Kettle One.

1 big giant mason jar
3 fresh apples, cored and sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon allspice berries, crushed
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, optional
1 750 mL bottle of Jim Beam

Put everything into the mason jar, shake well and place into a dark corner of the cupboard. Shake every day or two for 2-4 weeks, depending on your level of patience. Strain the liquid through a mesh colander and return it to the jar. Allow to age in the cabinet for an additional 5-7 days. Enjoy.

Apply pie bourbon. It's like drinking fall, and highly dangerous to boot.

If you want to get the drink the way Bond prefers, use a rye based vodka from Poland (like Belvedere) and Gordon's Gin. If you can get it where you live, substitute Lillet for Cocci Americano. It's not available where I live but it's the same recipe that Kina Lillet was. More quinine than current Lillet.

I read all the books back to back from September to November... :p

I may not be all that interested in being James Bond. First of all, I am way too fat and out of shape. Trying to work on that but the martinis keep getting in the way. As for the ingredients, I love the taste of my recipe. Kettle is so freakin' smooth and so is Bombay Sapphire. I've tried Belvedere and found I prefer Kettle. I'll be Bond in another life.

I'm not saying BE Bond, just try drinking like him! He knows his stuff. Interestingly, the Vesper is only ever ordered by Bond in Casino Royale. It's not ever stated, but I think he stopped wanting them after Vesper betrayed him.

As far as vodka goes, I don't much care for Ketel One. For a really smooth option I really like Luksusowa, and it's priced really well.

It's not the only time he orders them actually.
He also gets hammered on them on the train ride in Quantum of Solace.

I'm talking about in the books. Quantum of Solace had a shared title with a Bond short story but didn't actually happen in Fleming's writings. In the novels, Bond only drinks the Vesper in Casino Royale.

Gotcha. I thought you might have been referencing the books juuuusttt after I hit submit. Having read most but not all of them, I'll just have to take your word for it, although your username leaves room for speculation.... kidding.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
I generally don't have liquor in the house, but I have found that I like an Old Fashioned with the meal when I go out with my wife. It is either that or a vodka martini.

Gin with club soda and lime. If I don't see anything else worth ordering then this is my default choice. It's simple and most bottom shelf gins are still good.

The only difference, mine is a Gibson Martini, onion instead of olive.
