Absolute gem.

Although i think the greatest song ever might be the other one by them.

No, not that one..

I’m talking about the one where where Bonzo shattered the levee into a million pieces.

I was thinking about a distinction that I find I cannot quite articulate. The ones listened previously are all big, important albums, that I loved and listened to over and over. They are not necessarily albums I would want to sit down and listen to right now. And while they feel specific to specific times in my life, they were also important to the entire culture at the time, IMO. They do not feel that personal to me. I mean, who does not know and even like Who's Next?

There are other albums that I have played over and over, that feel specific to certain times of my life but that I have also gone back to many times, and that I could still sit down and listen to right now. They are lesser known and of less cultural significance. They seem more like "my" favorite albums rather than a hybrid list of what I think are best the albums every recorded and the albums I personally like the most. (I am also not going to try to tease out what is "rock." And I am not saying every cut on each of these albums is great) :)

1. Little George Sueref and the Blues Stars (eponymous)
2. Time (The Revelator)--Gillian Welch
3. For the Roses--Joni M
4. Quicksilver (as I recall eponymous at that particular time, otherwise by QSM, Quicksilver Messenger Service)
5. Jesse Winchester (eponymous)

Those are them and I am sticking with them. But, Honorable Mention: Parallel Lines--Blondie; Let's Get It On--Marvin Gaye; Night Moves--Bob Seeger; After Bathing at Baxters--Airplane; Workingman's Dead or American Beauty--the Dead

I do not know why Aja or even Gaucho are not on both my top five lists, especially the previous one as they were both big, important albums, IMO.

I kind of want to put Cheap Thrills by Big Brother on here somewhere, but I cannot quite do it, even as honorable mention.

Not the best of all, because there are so many and I can't choose just 5.
This are "just" 5 different from the ones mentioned in the posts before.

Marillion - Misplaced Childhood
Jim Morrison - An American Prayer
U2 - Ratlle and Hum
Dire Straits - Alchemy live
Nightwish - End of an Era

Ok, that's in my top 5 now too. Live Bullet still tops though, I'm a Michigan boy ya know.

Just thought of another, no idea of the name of the album though. George Thorougood (spelling?) and the Delaware Destroyers.

I'm partial to live albums. How about Cheap Trick at Butakon (spelling?) with Bun E. Carlos? And the live album that has "Roll With the Changes" on it? Can't remember the group's name at the moment. Brain bleeds suck, lol!

90's? Go to your room!

I am truly ashamed to admit this, but I do not believe I have heard any music from the groups you listed.

Hughie Lewis and the News was probably the last group I bought an album of.

Nope, U2 was, the one that had "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" on it. That was the last music I paid for, I'm nearly certain.

Live albums:

Kiss Alive
Frampton Comes Alive
Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won
Rush - Exit...Stage Left
Iron Maiden - Live After Death

Honorable Mention: Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan

Top Bottom
