I love a drink at night. I prefer Cognac or Whiskey, sometimes Rum, sometimes Tequila.

I know that listing 5 might be a lot for some and 3 might not be enough for other so, feel free to list your favorite poison and how you drink it.

I always think that a good drink should be good right out of the bottle.

That drink for me would be Courvoisier X.O. That stuff is good!

However, I wouldn't buy a bottle like that on a regular basis. If I would list what I would drink on a regular basis, is would go as follow:

1-Courvoisier VSOP or VS on ice
2-Jack Daniels Single Barrel - straight
3-Woodford Reserve on ice
4-Elijah Craig 12yrs on ice
5-Maker's Mark on ice
6-Canadian Club 12 yrs on ice
7-Gran Mathusalem on ice
8-Wild Turkey (reg) / Jack Daniels barrel no7 (black label, reg) on ice
9-Tequila Herradura anejo on ice

It's not much but it's a start. I want to try some of the Whiskey made in Australia, there was an article with a few of them last week in the newspaper. I can always list the names if anyone is interested.

I'm not a big fan of Vodka or mixed drink anymore. I tried scotch a few times and it's not for me. I don't like the tar/smoke taste. I didn't try a lot of them but find the above list much closer to my taste!

Lately, I've been having a licorice taste. I use to hate it, it seems that taste changes... I have a few of them on list to try, including Ouzo...

What's your take?

I like my scotch so any reasonably priced good scotch I'll drink. The single malt stuff is a treat...Here is my list.

Makers Mark
Glenmorangie
Mount Gay Rum
Johnnie Walker Red
Sambucca in my coffee in winter

Get that Ouzo into ya son,, very under rated drink. Chunk of ice and sip away to Panathanakos.

I also like a scotch, Laphraiog quater cask or Talisker 10 on a summers day with crushed ice or straight otherwise.

Wow this is hard. I'm mostly a scotch drinker, but enjoy tequila and bourbon and have lately been getting into rum.

Scotch
Highland Park 12/18
Glen Scotia 14
Bowmore 17
Springbank 10

Bourbon
Elijah Craig 12
Knob Creek
George T. Stagg

Tequila (blanco)
Don Julio
Patron (I know, I know - ubiquitous but undeniably good)

Rum
El Dorado 15
Zacapa 23
Cruzan Single Barrel

almost forgot - Gin!
Anchor Junipero
Tanqueray 10
Beefeater (yes, plain old Beefeater for G&T's!)

Hmmmm . . . I used to be strictly a Scotch drinker; Johnny Walker Black & soda. Then I joined a cigar forum and they introduced me to bourbon and rum. Then I joined B&B and y'all introduced me to Hendrick's gin . . . :w00t:

So, now I'm a lush and have a pretty high toned bar shelf in my pantry. :a17:

Scotch, I love a sherried Speyside---Balvenie DW, Glendronach Revival, Aberlour a'bunadh, Macallan Cask Strength.

Bourbon, nothing beats George T. Stagg but it's an annual release, so I save it for special occasions, like . . . well, like really wanting some Stagg!

But I'm also fond of Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, Four Roses Small Batch, and Buffalo Trace.

Rum, aside from Flor de Cana for mojitos, I like well-aged. Zacapa 23 Solera's nice, but I actually prefer Pampero Anniversario, which is less sweet. Pyrat XO and Ron Matusalem Espiritu de Cuba are frequent bar shelf visitors as well.

Vodka, I mostly mix---Bloody Marys, Greyhounds. I like a Texas one, Dripping Springs. Great vodka, great price.

Gin, I only like Hendricks. Not a fan of juniper.

Tequila, whatever they put in the margarita is fine by me.

Don't generally go in for brandy, cognac, or liqueurs . . . not enough to have any kind of knowledge or preference.
