What's new

Your Favorite Razorock

After seeing the amazing reviews of Razorock, I decided to try one of their (his?) soaps. Unfortunately, I was taken by the vast collection - surely, they can't /ALL/ smell great, can they?

So which would you say is a good, standard one that someone couldn't go wrong with. The "Astra SP" of Razorock, if you will.

PS: Avoid Sandalwood-esque scents; I've only ever had Art of Shaving Sandalwood soap (excellent soap btw) until now, and now that I've finished with it, I'm looking to try something new.

This is such a YMMV kind of thing. My personal favorites are Don Marco and Cumba Cheech. The Don Marco is an orange spice scent while the Cumba is a lighter jasmine orange floral scent. If those scents float your boat, you'll love them.

The classic is almond scent and while good I prefer Cella if I'm going down that path.

Here is my list:

Mudder Focker is a mix of musk/baby powder scent.

Zi' Peppino has a green tobacco scent.

Fresco has a water mint scent.

S. Maria fresh eucalyptus with no menthol finish.

Cacao has a chocolate/almond scent.

You can't go wrong with RR soaps/croaps/creams. Excellent performance and quality for the money.

My favorites (other than XXX, which was #1, but isn't available to purchase online anymore):

Mudder Focker (best performer)
R-160 (strongest scent of all of them, explosive marzipan)
Zi Peppino (my favorite scent, but also the weakest scent, green tobacco flower)
S Maria (great scent, great performer, eucalyptus)

Lol at the name mudder focker. This would all be 100 times easier if the name gave some intimation of the scent.

also, which ones have menthol in them? (I cant stand menthol)

and what happened to xxx?

i noticed one of the scents is boston tea party - does this smell like tea? (If si, i found a winner)

I believe that the only current RR offering with menthol is Mentolipto.

Boston Tea Part has a very mild scent reminiscent of black or green tea.

Lastly, XXX was discontinued purportedly due to problems with the manufacturer. Joe, one of the proprietors of RR, stated that XXX was always intended as an experiment, and he knew that difficulties were likely when the time came to order another batch.

Hard to pick a favorite as the different product families are quite different from each other. All of their products perform above average to outstanding, and are a tremendous value.

My personal favorite is the La Famiglia (TFS) line, and Artisan tallow based soaps. As for scents, I simply echo the other descriptions in this thread. Also note that new products are coming June 5th.

Anything from the La Famiglia line made by TFS for Joe. Outstanding soaps.

After that I would say the Artisan line.

My favorite is the Zi Peppino. Awesome scent and solid performance. I like the 888 Eucalyptus too but it seems to irritate my skin a bit.

I tried classic is a wonderful intro to RR then King Louis a nice mild lavender. All his products that I've tried work very well.I think these the Italian soft soaps are a good value easy to use and Joe is unique in the available scents department.

Go with the Fresco as it is a RazoRock Original that does not have the type of menthol sensation. It has a very nice fragrance that is just refreshing and the lather is very luxurious and protective with plenty of glide for your blade.

Joe has a fairly diverse line of soaps. Several different lines from different manufacturers. You just need to pick a fragrance that sounds like something you might like and give them a try. Hard to go wrong with RR lines.

Love the Zi Peppino--great light scent and a terrific performer.

XXX is the king, of course, but no longer available.

I have several more RR lathers on the radar--and I'm looking forward to the new product announcement.

I'm kind of surprised there's so little mention of the King Louis and 888 varieties. I've tried a whole bunch of the RR line and these two are better than any of the others except maybe for the XXX. Make sure you check out the ingredients list in these two before buying any of the other products.

Both KL and 888 are well regarded soaps, apparently made by the people who make AK. They contain lanolin, so that may be a positive or negative for potential users.

Of the ones I have tried and used, they were amongst the best. My next favourite is the Classic in the blk tub, scent and performance were outstanding.
