Never latherd it, just foamed the soap on my hands with the hand.

Soap - MWF - £20 (with bowl)
Razor - Merkur futur - £58
Blade - WS double edge
Splash - Lucky tiger - £20
Lotion - Clarins revitalising gel - £30

Clarins is excellent stuff, dammed expensive though.

Total = $8.00

My most expensive:
Gillette Slim - $28.00
Yaqi 2 Band Fan Badger - $22.00
MWF - $18.00
Speick AS- $ 18.00
Total = $86.00

Cheapest:
Preshave- Olive Oil (don't knock it 'till you try it) -0.00€ since I've got jugs of it for cooking anyway and I literally use about 5-10 drops of it
Soap- Arko- <1€
Brush- Generic brush from DM Market- I think I got it for like 1.19€ or something like that
Razor- Wilkinson Sword Classic- 2.49€, and includes 5 Wilkinson Sword blades
Aftershave- Hattric Classic- I usually get it on sale for about 3.80€-4€ for a 200mL bottle

Expensivest (I know, not a word, but this is all in the name of fun anyway):
Preshave- Olive Oil (It works really well for me, so much so that I don't bother to get any other preshave)
Soap- Proraso Single Blade Cypress & Vetyver- I want to say it was ~14€ or so, but it is a 275mL pouch, so still not particularly expensive
Brush- Proraso Omega Brush- ~11€
Razor- Merkur 33C- 28€
Postshave- Alum block- ~5-6€
Aftershave- Proraso Sandalwood- ~22€ (but then again, it was for the 400mL jug, so it's actually pretty cheap. I just don't have any actual "expensive" aftershaves)
Postshave fragrance- Proraso Cypress & Vetyver Cologne- 23€ (pretty pricy for a flat broke grad student, but it really does smell great (though longevity isn't fantastic, but mostly I just use it since it matches the shave cream and it prolongs the "fresh shaved" feeliing)).

I know, my expensive stuff actually isn't all that expensive, but to be fair, I've been wet shaving for only about 2 months, and like I said, I'm a completely broke grad student (I may get to work in an Ebola lab, but that doesn't mean I get paid for it xD), so it might be some time before I get some really luxury stuff. In any case, thanks for reading and if you have any feedback or questions (though I'm not an expert, I do like to make opinions) about any of the stuff I listed, I'd be happy to learn more from you or chat!

From memory...

Cheapest:
1963 Flare Tip SS ($6.13 after tax)
Voskhod (circa 8 cents a blade)
Arko shave stick ($1)
Brush? I have two. Honestly, I rarely use them.
Block of Alum from India off eBay ($3-4)

The alum is the "aftershave".

Gillette Fatboy ($85 I think is what I gave for it on eBay 4 years ago)
Personna Platinum (22 cents a blade or so)
Cremo Cream ($7 from Walmart. I'm just not a big soap/cream guy)
Still, no brush
Proraso aftershave ($15)

Most expensive:
- ATT closed bar ($170)
- Shavemac D01 ($160) & Chubby 2 ($180)
- Vintage Yardley ($50)

Cheapest:
- super speed ($15)
- Yaqi 22mm barberpole synth ($10)
- Palmolive stick

The most expensive items are all gone. I didn't enjoy the razor. I hated both the brushes hogging my lather.

Funny thing is that the brush and soap from the cheapest delivers an incredible lather to shave with...just replace the super speed with a Progress or Rockwell!!

I feel your pain. Dropped my Simpsons Chubby 2 Best Badger on the bathroom tiles TWICE. Chipped the bottom edge, can still use it but every time I take it in my hand I get a reminder of my mistakes.

In my mind the only way to determine the least, or most, expensive shave is to calculate per use cost. Sure, the Martin de Candre is pricey for a puck, but for me it is about 15 cents a shave. A typical Gillette Silver Blue, while pricey as razor blades go, yields enough shaves to clock in at about $.012 per shave. The 4711 cologne is priced at about $34 for 800ml, a little over a year's worth. So that is about $.08 per shave. The brush, over twenty years, about my average, may average about $.013 per shave. The razor, an Above the Tie Windsor, which presumably will last forever, may prove to be quite the bargain. I find that it contributes to longer blade life, too. This is both my cheapest and most expensive, for it is what I use daily.

The most expensive just got more “expensiver.” Restored the broken Omega Evo with a new handle crafted by Paul at TrotterHandcrafts (Etsy). Turned out well. May I not be so clumsy again.
