What's new

You got me again eBay....

So I sell two razors on eBay to the same buyer. He pays for both. I decide to be nice and combine shipping for him even though I don't offer it in my auctions and he never asked for it. He gets charged the exact shipping cost ($6.10 for 2 razors priority with D/C) Send him a refund for the difference and mail the razors.

I get feedback. "Love the razors but the shipping was too high."
:cursing:

I want the refund back.

You can't appease everyone. I really don't think people know how much it actually costs to ships a package w/ a delivery confirmation.

Maybe the buyer didn't notice the refund? Maybe you could message him, let him know what you did, and ask him to amend his comment.

Ummm... did you try punching him?

It's not quite gentlemanly, but when in Rome.

I wont even get into my last Ebay fiasco.... it makes me too mad.

Haha. That'd just be mean. It doesn't really matter, it's just a more of a "what are people thinking" befuddlement when I saw the shipping complaint. I mean there's a big sticker right on the front that shows the shipping cost. Unless I'm bribing someone at my post office, it's pretty obvious I'm not pocketing anything there. I'm guessing there's a good chance AA is right and he didn't notice. eBay will notify him of my response to his feedback and we'll see if he corrects it, but I'm not holding my breath.

To solve that problem I now "ship free" but have a minimum bid that includes the cost of shipping.

Sold a vintage razor to another buyer. Listed it as domestic only.

Bidder asked me if I ship to France. I replied no. He bid anyway and won and requested shipping cost.

Shipping cost to France is $30. I tell eBay to cancel the auction. eBay who allowed a bidder I had never agreed to sell to according to their OWN TERMS is now telling me that unless the bidder who already has bid on something I told him I wouldn't sell to him, against the terms of the auction, agrees to cancel the auction I owe them money.

To put it another way. They sold the item to a buyer I had laid out I would not sell to, and which their terms ALLOW me to refuse to sell to. Now they're demanding I give them money because they violated their own terms.

eBay can go fornicate itself with a hot poker.

You can block buyers from countries that you don't post to from bidding.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/buyer-requirements.html

To block buyers in countries you don't want to post to:
  1. Go to My eBay.
  2. Click the Account tab, and then click Site Preferences on the left.

[*]In the Selling Preferences section, scroll to Postage & packaging preferences, and click Show.

[*]Next to Exclude postage locations from your listings, click Edit.

[*]Select one or more continents to exclude all countries on those continents. Or select Show all countries, and then select the specific countries you don't want to post to.
[*]All excluded countries you selected will appear on the lower section of the page.
[*]Tick the box next to Apply to all current live listings to apply these exclusions to all your current listings
[*]Click Apply to save your requirements.

AWESOME. That's exactly what I wanted. Funny thing is I called eBay and yelled at them about this. They didn't mention that. Just blah blah blah give us more money blah blah blah haha sucker blah blah blah.

Thank you a thousand times over.

Funny part is that the eBay fee's are gonna be like $4. The money doesn't matter to me, but the fact that they will so blatantly steal from their customers and pretend that they can't do anything about it makes me so angry my stomach hurts even though I know it's a damned silly thing to be bothered by.

You're welcome.

I suspect you certainly aren't the only one on this forum dissatisfied by the Ebay customer service. Seems Ebay gripes are actually quite common. It's enough to make you think they actually don't care!

Try dealing with them when you have to ring from Australia! Local customer 'service' didn't want to know about a problem I had with a ebay.com issue and on-line support just kept giving me the same line. Only got resolved after a number of calls to the US factoring in international rates and time zone differences...

Ouch Mark. On the plus side, you're in Australia.

The bidder actually agreed to cancel the auction, which was a big surprise and a relief. So that actually worked out.

If an item sells for more than $50.00 I charge a minmum of $35.00 to ship out of US except to Canada. For the guy in France I would have charged him $60.00 or an option of cancelling the transaction since your selling/buying rules were plainly stated.
