What's new

Y. Bourhis Concarneau 193 6/8 (#4 of 4)

This is the last of a lot of 4 French razors I bought a long time ago that I almost forgot I had.

The first I made a Kabrand shorty with original but shortened scales
The second was a Famex restoration with new scales
and the third was an IC Veritable vincent Frameback with handmade scales

This is a Y. Bourhis Concarneau 193 6/8 but I'm fairly sure it started life as a P. Hospital (Le Grelot) blank.

It came without scales so I've been trying to get Thiers Issard style scales and contemplated making them.
Recently I saw a razor that was totally beyond help but the scales were Tortoiseshell in the TI style so I grabbed it.

The scales came with a bone wedge and were 1.5mm so I had to drill 1.6mm holes for the nickel-silver rods

Nickel-silver Rosette Collars seem appropriate with the scales

Internal washers and plenty of overhang to accommodate the collars

Good shave but I think the edge needs to be toned down a bit as it currently goes to 11
