“X " trace

Gents, this is my Aust, which has been honed by expert. It has x strokes on the edge, it seems that is honed heel forward, and then it passed the toe forward?

IMO they are all good strokes. If done well and will get you a fine shaving blade. I prefer heel leading strokes throughout but im not saying that my way is better than anyone elses. I do light x strokes on the finish though. You dont have to.

I did use a few years back a layer of tape to isolate the edge on very high grit stones and wider bevels. To polish the whole bevel can take a while.

Shaves where not better, and it got confusing. So now I just take the time to get the whole bevel and edge as I like it.
