Bears always have trouble racking the slide.
The single greatest safety is between your ears. If it fails all other safeties are useless. Double action revolvers, and striker fired pistols with no safeties should be carried fully loaded. Keep your booger pickers off the bang switch till your ready to shoot and you will NEVER experience an "accidental" discharge.
Carrying a Glock with an empty chamber is about as smart as carrying no matches when camping.
