WOW, you guys were right! (Another thread about Mike's)

Last week or two I've been using Mikes Lemongrass exclusively. WOW! Took a bit of practice to learn to lather it. With my skills, I like to lather it in a bowl. When I do so I get mountains of lather in seconds! But the best part is the smell. It's not fragrancey (not a word, I know) like most other products. With the essential oils used it has a very natural and real smell to it, and with the lemony tang it has it's making these springtime mornings feel wonderful. I can't wait to try more of these! I'm thinking Vetiver next, but open to suggestions.

For those of you who have seen all the buzz about Mike's but haven't tried it yet, you're cheating yourselves!

Mike's is truly second to none in my book. The skin goodness in these products are out of this world. Add the amazing performance and scents and its easy for me to rank his soaps on top of the list. Haven't tried the Vetiver but Rose/Cedarwood, Barbershop, and Orange/Cedarwood are my favorites. Honestly though you probably couldn't go wrong with anyone you pick.

I've got the Lime. Hard to describe, but straightforward. Even while I was lathering it, for a moment, I asked myself, what smells so good in here? Oh, it's the Lime coming from the soap! DUH! I really like the lather it makes.

Mike's is so rich and chock-ful-o good for your skin ingredients, that it's almost too good.

I find that if I don't cut way back on the amount of soap that I use, by the time I get enough water mixed in that I have enough lather for 3 shaves worth.

Stuff is so full of butters and oils that while it never foams up on you, it can turn to wallpaper paste if you don't hydrate it enough.

Huge sweet spot though, it's wet shaving EZ-Mode.

I am really enjoying the lavender, orange/cedarwood/black pepper and coconut scents. Might want to give those a shot on your next purchase.

I have Lemongrass & Eucalyptus, Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper, Barbershop, Peppermint & Rosemary and Lime...in quantities enough to keep me going for oh about 10 years...not a bad option amongst them.

Mike's soaps are the best of the tallow based artisan soaps, and pretty easily lathering as well.

2 days/shaves into the Hungarian Lavender and I haven't got the soap/water dialed in. I really want to like this... Great scent.... Tin is austere and I like the packaging in general.... Seems like a small amount of soap but I'm imagining it will last for months even if used daily. IMO doesn't outperform Tabac or Martin de Candre. I would imagine with consecutive use and getting all aspects in line, I will be rewarded with nice lather.

Do you face lather or bowl? I can't seem to get this stuff to lather right without the bowl and a good amount of water. Gave up on trying to face lather it. Never got the right mix on my skin that way for some reason. My brush is a Vulfix 1000A which loads up quick. Using a cold metal bowl and cold water I mix it for about 20 seconds in the bowl and it gets really lathery. Took me a few shaves to get it, though.

I tried two of Mike's soaps about 8 months ago. I was never able to raise a decent lather (we have hard water here), gave up and got rid of it. Now that I have better technique, this thread convinced me to try it again, so I just ordered a tin of Mike's Vetiver.

Once you do get it take a knife and pry it out then put it in it's own dedicated lathering bowl. This way you'll not be limited to the amount of water that your brush/ tin will hold. Deep lathering bowl and lots of water! Someone once remarked how Mikes first ingredient is water yet takes so much to lather it. Lol. Funny.

Very nice! I'm glad to hear it. Mine was drying on my face since I'm still learning to use a straight of my own. :)
