Would you wash your hair with Arko?

I ran across a post about shampoo bars this morning http://sharpologist.com/2012/10/shampoo-bars.html#more-7975 .
To quote the article:
Shampoo bars are soaps specifically made for washing hair: there are more oils in the ingredient mix and are generally milder than a regular soap.
Shampoo bars are more environmentally friendly. There is no large bottle or tube to throw away.
Shampoo bars are available in classic scents similar to shaving soaps.
This got me wondering how effective shaving soap would be as a shampoo.
Most shaving soap has lots of skin conditioning properties which led me to this idea.
Any thoughts??

Imho Arko's smell is not the nicest. Also Arko shaving soap has a less cleaning capacity compared to regular soap(but it might be comparable to shampoo dunno).

The Arko part was in jest. No, I really have no wish to smell like I just escaped from a horrific washing machine explosion.
I do have some mama bears Dublin Tweed that I will use for my next shower though.

You can wash anything with any soap, they all do the same thing on a fundamental level. Your hair, your face, your floors, your car, soap is basically soap.
The key is that every soap is optimized for a certain task, and using the right tool for the right job will just make it go easier and quicker.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
No. But if I can find a US vendor that sells the DR Harris shampoo bars I will be on it faster than a buzzard on a gut wagon.

On edit: Westcoast shaving now has the Arlington shampoo bar. Guess what will be on my next order.

Soap is soap, so you should be able to wash your hair with shaving soap. Because of it's natural lathering properties, you'll be able to wash your hair with the lather. The only problem with this is that you'll be wasting shaving soap which is usually more expensive than regular soap or shaving soap. I've used the Van Der Hagen Luxury soaps before, and at $4 a pop, they're cheaper than buying shampoo bars. But it defeats the purpose of a shampoo bar because Shampoo bars are supposed to be free of SLS and things like that. Anyways, my 2 cents on this subject.

I agree with all the above, I could use laundry detergent to wash my hair, just probably wouldn't want to smell like arko all day. When my ship went on a 6 month deployment I got all my hair buzzed off and would just run regular soap over my head in the shower.

I used the mama bears this morning. It obvously lathered really well, on rinsing I could tell it left a little of my natural oil behind. The result so far is my hair feels a little thicker and very soft. I don't see doing this daily, but I would like to pin down something that would make traveling lighter.

One soap to shower, shampoo, and shave........Hmmmmm?

Wouldn't use Arko on my hair, but do use J.R. Liggett's shampoo bar on a regular basis. Natural, SLS-free, and leaves hair shiny and smooth. And I don't have to shampoo every day. Hair always feels silky soft!
