What's new

Would you clean and use, collect, or just pitch this brush?

Was at our local rescue mission economy store. I like to buy things there once in a while, not that I need to shop there, per se, but it's a small way to help out the community. While I was there I thought I'd ask if they had any "old fashion" shaving things. The lady said all they had was this brush. It is a "100% PURE BRISTLE By SEKINE #214 made in West Germany. They wanted 6 bucks for it: I said, "Okay." I looked online for information either about the brush or about the company--darn little. Anyway, I am assuming that someone, somewhere, sometime, used the brush. Naturally, I don't know who, where, or when. So, what do you think I should do with it? Use it (how does one clean/sterilize a brush?), just add it to the collection, pitch it, or try to re-sell it?

Soap it up thoroughly with some anti-bacterial soap, rinse it out completely. Repeat using a soap puck and your hand to see how it lathers and if any bristles break off.
If it's in good shape and isn't losing hairs, then rinse it and let it dry in the sun, and use it.
It's a very nice looking brush.

and if you loose hairs put a new knot in it,..... But hopefully it cleans up well, it looks as if it should be good

Best of luck on the "new" brush

Really nice looking brush and if the knot is shot, you can always have it re-knotted. I certainly would not pitch the handle.
