What's new

Worst shave so far

I cleaned up my newly acquired Aristocrat (Oh so shiny) and put in some shark super stainless. Worst shave , a ton of tugging and my face feels raw. Now keep in mind I'm only a few weeks into this so I'm sure there is user error. This is a new to me razor and blades I have never used before.
I thought that the Aristocrat would be less aggressive than the LC New, so maybe it is the Sharks. Is it better to stick with one razor and try different blades or one blade with different razors? Are some blades natural matches with certain razors? Are all these thing YMMV.

I haven't tried a Shark but when I try out a new razor I usually use a tried and true blade like an Astra SP. Couple of things, make sure the blade alignment is even and straight on both sides of the razor. Also make sure the silo doors are closed tight.

I would recommend using the same razor and the same blades for the first few months and just work on improving your technique before you start experimenting with a bunch of different products.

+1 - I used to be a big supporter of blade samplers, but finally agreed with others that you're likely introducing too many variables. Pick one razor, one blade, and perfect your technique, the start exploring the rest of the wet shaving world that's out there.

I have never shaved with an Aristocrat.

I ve tried Sharks twice and didn't finish the shave with them either time.

Terribly rough.
