Wood Grain Striped Iyoto Toishi

I think the wood grain pattern is pretty cool.
I've had a few larger Iyoto chunks - one fell apart because I soaked it too long, and the last one was too agressive.
This one might very well be just right for bevel setting. I did a quick test when I opened the box and it seemed to cut very well.
Ironically - I bought it to cut into Nagura. But the top surface is large enough to work on and I may leave it whole.
Here it is at about the 90% lapped-flat stage. It's done now - all that's left to do is to touch up some of the lacquering on the sides.

Actually - this Iyoto was purchased almost 2 months ago - it just arrived.
The Ozuku has been here for about 3 weeks or so. I just got around to photographing it today.

The Iyoto came from Nakaoka-san. I think this one is going to be a nice bevel-setter.
Originally - I was going to cut it into Nagura - but the stone is in very good shape and large enough to hone on.
The test run was very good. Now that it's lapped, I need to get a blade on it to see what it can do.

Ty,
Just did another test after relapping it..this one is harder than I thought, and it's been a bit difficult to get flat.
It's still not perfect but it's flat enough to make a test bevel.
Well - it did so faster than I thought it would - and without slurry. I used a scale-less junk blade for the test-run, so tomorrow I'll slurry it up and take one of the razors out of the to-do cup and have at it.

Thanks everyone..

Henry, I have a few hones, but not so very many really. I've sold a bunch off, and I'll probably sell a couple more.
