What's new

Wizamet SI info request

To outline my testing:

I used a blackbird ti light, a scuttle with hot lather of beeswax sterling soap, and I did the same exact routine each shave. I did not use aftershave for the tests shaves because I was searching for a blade that left me with the “no shave” feel that I got for the 2017 Wizamet.

Now I am going back to business as usual and if I see a new blade to try out it should be fun.

It was interesting at the end to see how good I got with the blackbird when I tried my grandfathers old slim adjustable. Love the adjustable way more than the blackbird for the connection to my grandfather but the blackbird is a tricky razor.

So I dug out my old microscope to take a look at a few blades.

Looking through the eyepiece it’s rough ground and the edge looks rough.

Here’s another view you can see chipping in the edge.

The main edge bevel is much finer grit and the edge is polished visibly smooth. It looks impressive under magnification.

#3 2017 Super Iridium

Fine grit on the bevel and visibly polished edge. Looking through the eyepiece it’s a nice looking blade.

#4 Super Iridium 2023

Looks nice but not the same as the 2017

Anyhow I would say I can easily see visible differences under magnification and it seems to line up with my perceptions in usage.
