Often I will use Alum after shaving...rinsing with a cold water splash, then a spray of Witch Hazel before applying aftershave (helps dilute the alcohol content in the aftershave/cologne) followed by balm/moisturizer
Here is the one I use:I looked up the Osma block. There are several sizes and frankly, they look identical to my Gentleman Jon block in that they're a cloudy, translucent block.
Is there a specific Osma block offering that is the darling of the group?
Cool, I'm really interested in knowing. Much appreciatedI finally ordered an Osma alum block off Amazon and will show up tomorrow. Hopefully it's genuine and then I'll test whether or not it's in any way different from the Gentleman Jon block.
Not disagreeing but curious. In what way(s) is the Osma alum block superior to the others? Thanks.Witch hazel is a true commodity, any will do.
I’ve not used every brand of alum block out there, but for me Osma is far superior.
@Calyshaver gave the perfect answer a few posts above. Other brands disintegrate quickly. The only reason I’ve ever had to replace an Osama block is because I dropped it onto the counter. I recently smashed one that was easily more than five years old and in perfect condition. Not disagreeing but curious. In what way(s) is the Osma alum block superior to the others? Thanks.
thanks for saving me from an(other) unnecessary shaving purchasei used the Osma on one side of my face and the Gentleman Jon on the other.
other than some fraction of more smoothness from the Osma, i didn’t notice any differences in efficacy.
so, that’s my experience. take it with a sliver of alum
Thanks. FWIW, I have a Gentleman Jon and a Razorock. Both feel about the same and have the same tightening effect on my skin. Neither shows any sign of disintegrating or flaking. Am I missing something by not using the Osma?@Calyshaver gave the perfect answer a few posts above. Other brands disintegrate quickly. Yes, I noticed that too on the 75g vs 100g. Funny stuffI do have the 100g in plastic for my travel kit; packed for this week upcoming, coincidentally.
My daily use is the 75g, which I've always found odd that the 75g is not the travel size and the 100g the norm...
I went with the Proraso Alum first and went with an additional Osma Bloc because the Proraso came pitted and eventually began to hollow out.
