Wish You Were Here - Australian Pink Floyd Band

Your response comes as quite a surprise to me, Neil. I have seen many concerts, and yet would welcome the opportunity to see the Grateful Dads play.

I hear you, but I don't make any pretenses about the Grateful Dads being anything but what we are -- a hack bar band. Our friends have fun at our shows because of the party atmosphere, not because they think we are virtuoso musicians. Click here to see what I mean -- Bertha, 2006 Halloween Show We don't sell tickets and we don't allow the bar to charge a cover, although usually we have Rock and Wrap It Up at the shows so people can give donations instead.

I don't go see the Fab Faux or the Dark Star Orchestra either, and they both have huge followings. If they were playing in a bar or at a party it might be fun, but going to watch them perform someone else's music in a concert environment, no matter how expertly done, just doesn't do it for me.

Just my opinion, no judgment involved. I don't find fault with anyone who likes to go to those types of shows; it's just not for me.

Enjoy!

I dig. And thanks for the link. Your bands timing and dynamics are excellent. :thumbup1: I played in a bar band years ago and would occasionally have to suffer fools who would say we should be playing our own songs and not trying to gain popularity from someone else's work. To which I would say "Do you watch sports? Pick your favorite quarterback and I guarantee he didn't invent the game". We did charge the bar and occasionally, after a mind blowing night, we would "pass the hat", but we never claimed to be anything more than a bar band out to have fun. To make a short story long, I couldn't agree with you more. Keep jammin my friend!:thumbup:
