I've never seen a winter in Hawaii. As a matter of fact, I've never seen Hawaii. I voted based on winters here (in Montana). I hope that doesn't mess up your poll results.

Looks like good surfing on the way to you, though.

Yay winter!

An excuse to wear shearling, cashmere sweaters and scarves, and camelhair overcoats ...

... no lawn mowing, no dandelions ...

... a good excuse to snuggle in front of the fireplace and/or television with SWMBO and :001_wub:

Boo winter!

Shoveling snow takes place of mowing the lawn.
It's way too cold out.
People forget how to drive.
The car doesn't start.
Clothes are always wet because of constant water being on the ground.
The salt takes years and value off the car.
You can't spot the potholes anymore, either. In general, it's a PITA to go anywhere.
Winter sucks.

Also, I forgot about getting tons of bloody noses due to the lack of humidity in the air.
Winter in an area where it actually becomes cold and snows for extended months is winter. The temperature hitting a low of 40 isn't.

As opposed to short skirts and small tops? You sir, are crazy.

The ones who posted yay winter probably live in the south or Cali. :biggrin:They don't know what its like to snow blow 8-12 inches with boots and then it piles as high as your knees and having to start the car with a remote starter for 10 mins before sitting inside because my leather is making my chap freeze!

I live in Edmonton, Alberta which is probably the coldest big city, furthest North anyways, in all of North America and it's actually still decent here, it has been hovering a bit above zero during the day and a bit under at night, but still no snow on the gorund and it's forecast to be 12 and 13 degrees after this weekend.

It has been unseasonably warm, I can remember as a kid there being tons of snow on the ground when I went out on Halloween.

The thing I hate the most, since I don't have a garage to park my car in, is coming outside every morning to find ultra thick frost all over my windows and having to spend like 10 minutes scraping it off and then until the car warms up the windows fog so bad you are driving blind.

And this entire city is under road construction right now and traffic is horrendous so once the snow starts falling and the roads get slippery, it is going to be absolutely brutal driving to work. No salt on the roads here - it gets so cold salt doesn't do anything, they just use gravel.

Plus there's the 8:30 AM sunrises and 4:00 sunsets. Darkness doesn't bother me really but there are lots of people who get really depressed by that, dark when you get to work and dark when you get home.

So on the whole I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to it, but I do take a certain sense of pride in being a hardy Canadian who doesn't find it that big a deal to be outside when it's -30 degrees, and there is a real sort of charming and surreal aspect to those ultra freezing days where it is just absolutely dead calm outside, not the slighest bit of wind, 0% humidity and entirely clear skies, just pure silence.

Winter in the Panhandle of Florida is really 4-6 weeks roughly from late December through early February. So...meh.

Kailua is my favorite place in Winter or Summer and has one of the most beautiful beaches in the WORLD! The King of Kailua is indeed lucky to be living in such a wonderful place no matter what time of year it is!

From one Illinois resident to another. Winter sucks. :thumbdown

After 40 years in upstate New York, I can't complain about the mild winters here, but I'm still a fan of warmer weather.

Sweaters
Hot Cocoa
Snuggling under the covers
Fires
Holiday Parties

And frankly, I think women look just as good as they do in the summer. The winter just accentuates their looks, IMHO.
