Winter Time At Badger and Blade

Winter Time at Badger and Blade

The Speakeasy Edition

full

The winter season is upon us, and its the time of year for holiday work, and family get togethers. We all have our favourite cold weather drinks, some of us spike some egg nog, while other pour a dram of their favourite whisky. The team would love to hear what drink keeps the heart warm after the end of a cold winters day for you gents !

Explorer all of B&B as winter has hit almost the whole forum
and there is a lot more to catch up on around town

Nothing like some spiked egg nog at the family functions. Bit really a nice dram of highland park 18 while I sit relax and write some Christmas cards means the start of the holidays for me... nothing will warm you up faster after shoveling the driveway either

Between cracking open a bottle of LBV port, and rusty nails ... and some single malt scotch ... I'm pretty much set for winter enjoyment.

I enjoy a good winter beer. Whether it be Sam Adams Winter Lager, Blue Moon Mountain Abbey Ale or Great Lakes Christmas Ale, etc..., I dig them all!

I am almost through my first jar of pumpkin spice (McCormicks). I put it in everything from coffee to cereal to...dare I say....my whiskey. Though my buddy was off his rocker suggesting I put anything in my whiskey but a shake or two on top of my Bulleit Rye and it's almost like they were made to go together. Give it a shot.

My favorite so far is my cold brew coffee (look it up if you haven't had it) with generous amounts of pumpkin spice in with the brewing process. Then I add that to some milk, a dash of pumpkin spice creamer and then a shot of irish whiskey. Damn fine cold irish coffee with a holiday kick.

I've been getting into my Apple Pie 'Moonshine' lately. With the colder weather I've been getting asked by several friends/family to make batches for them. It's great heated up when it's cold outside.

Traditional Irish drink. Hot whiskey. I make it with a shot of Bushmills, tsp of sugar or some honey and a lemon slice studded with three cloves. In a pre-warmed glass or mug, disolve sugar or honey in hot water, add whiskey and studded lemon. Let steep for a few minutes (if you can wait). Enjoy.

I like to... on really cold days anyway... rest that whisky filled glass over the brim of a hot cup of coffee to enjoy a settling drinkbafter the driveway shovel, then a cup of joe to really make sure it held. Makes the flavours and scents come alive like you wouldn't believe

A flask of whiskey out in the snow might be some people's choice, but I think it's better to enjoy a hearty ale at the bottom of the ski slope at days end. To indulge one self in that way in order to soothe sore muscles.

Just give me a Nutty Irishman. I mean that in the nicest way! :) That combo - coffee, with hazelnut liquor and some Baileys - makes me very happy and relaxed after coming in from the cold!

Tequila usually gets me into a warm place.:001_cool:

I cannot argue the tequila has it's own warming powers, however, I rarely reach for it in the winter.

I'm usually a Guinness and Jameson guy, this winter I have been sipping Jameson's single pot still recipe Red Breast or some of Colorado's own Leupold Brothers Whiskey.
