Wind up razors

So the other day I came across a wind up DE razor - wind it up and watch it dance. Can't remember the actual brand, but that was the advertising tag line.
It seemed to still work, or at least it was doing SOMETHING when I wound up the handle a few clicks.
Would this actually shave decently or was it some kind of fad thing? I don't need a conversation piece, but would pay the $8 they wanted if it actually did it's job.

It is worth a 'measly' eight bucks for sure! If anything, it will provide a great 'wow' factor to your collection. I don't care to shave with mine, but I love to play with it!

Then there's the wind-up razor with no name. Commonly called "the Monaco" or "the Brevete". I have one of these and it does a decent job. Not BBS but very passable. Haven't tried my Stahly's yet.

I have one of these but it is not running right. I want to bring it to a clock maker guy I know for fixing. But, I need to know, how long does it run on a wind up? How many complete turns do you crank it up? Does the switch just go on and off or does it go in degrees - ie, half way open and it runs slower than full open?

Mine just runs out very rapidly, like 2-3 seconds at really high revs - but I need to know what normal is so I can tell the clock guy. If you get this thanks.

Now back to the original thread!!
