Williams: pretty good and inexpensive

So I have been wet shaving for almost two years. Purchased my first puck of Williams the other night and figured to give it a go this morning. It created a lather pretty quickly but did take a minute or so longer then other shaving soaps but it was well worth it.
It was a good shave and I am happy I jumped in feet first.

Now don't get me wrong i thoroughly enjoy reading posts for and against Williams as this is some of the best ribbing and belly laughs I get to enjoy.

If there are beginners out there this may be a good soap to learn how to build lather and practice technique. And some gents may be price conscious so it is good to know that they have a good affordable soap that is safe for the environment then a can of goo and will last much longer.

Thanks for reading.

I enjoy the hate/love Williams posts more than anything on this board. I'm on the love Williams side. I got tired of chasing the puck when I went to a bowl in lieu of a mug and started grating the pucks to stuff them to fit the bowl. I found that Williams was much easier to lather once it had been grated. That puck is really dense.

Once you learn to lather it, you will fear no soap because, by God, you know how to lather soap.

I had a stick shift car like that. If you could drive that *** stick, anything else was a dream.

With some things, once you can do it with a certain product, everything else is easy.

I'm kind of glad that Williams was the first shaving soap I tried, and that I learned to lather it and like it before I started reading these forums.

Not that I haven't learned a lot around here, I have. But the first time I ran into one of the hate Williams threads, I knew not to take it seriously.

I used Williams for years, along with OS SS, and Aramis SS. Using only a Surrey brush. After finding B&B my technique improved. Because of this forum I've found better stuff. Much better. And with my having developed tendonitis I'm not up for taking the time to lather Williams anymore. That being said, if you can lather Williams, you can lather any soap. And if you like it, well that's cool too.

I noticed you said "had" a *** car.....

When you traded/sold your car, did you specifically ask the car salesman... "I'd like another *** car just like my last one...."

Have you ever said to yourself: "You know, this car I currently own is great.... I'd really like to put a *** car in my rotation and drive it once a week"?

Williams-- Now that you've done it, don't do it again.

I shaved with a puck I bought a few weeks this morning for the first. It did take a little effort to get it to lather, but the quality was great. Then again I was using my boar brush and not a badger.

Williams; the best American shave product in my den....

Haven't you bought any soaps from Mama Bear or Sue from Saint Charles Shave or Suzie Bubbles? Any of them are far better than Williams. I know, I had been using Williams long before I encountered B&B. :glare:

Some people say that puck is made outta mud
A poor man's soap that needs muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and water that's soft
And a big boar brush with plenty of loft

You pay just over a buck, what do you get
A fast fading lather and plenty of sweat
I try to make it work but it just won't go
Oh, why do I use that soap anymore?

I was shaving one mornin' and feelin' just fine
I picked up my razor and filled that sink of mine
I loaded Williams in my brush, and started to churn
And I got no lather but I could feel the burn

You pay a buck twenty-five, what do you get
A fast fading lather and plenty of sweat
I try to make it work but it just won't go
Oh, why do I use that soap anymore?

I was shavin' one mornin', it was drizzlin' rain
Fightin' with that damn ol' Williams again
I think those guys that like are just plain lyin'
But I can't stop, I just keep on tryin'

You pay just over a buck, what do you get
A fast fading lather and plenty of sweat
I try to make it work but it just won't go
Oh, why do I use that soap anymore?

If you see me comin', better step aside
I can lather normal soaps in the wink of an eye
One arm of iron, the other of steel
That Williams will learn ya
If you don't get killed

I try to make it work but it just won't go
