Negative, it contains tallow...

it performs very well as a puck....Why you need to grate it ?

I have a puck each of MWF, Tabac and a couple of others that have been grated and put into a glass dish and while I don't know what difference it made (if any, may be all in my mind), but it performs better and seems to pick up on the brush easier.

So, with some saying it's hard to lather, it's worth a try.

I just presoak my puck, which softens it and my boar brush has no problem loading up with it.

Grate it. I do this to mix it with leftover VDH pucks to provide a mix of a great smelling soap with one that lathers a bit easier.

I just put it in a coffee mug and there it sits until it is gone.

Of course you can grate it, but I think that's too much trouble. I just leave it in its coffee mug. If you want to store it, I would look at some custard style dishes with covers at the local 'super' store. Choose one the puck would easily fit in.
