What's new

Williams Institute for Shaving Excellence (WISE)

So after getting myself hyped up on Williams I stopped by the pharmacy and blew $1.19 on a backup puck for the soap queue in the refrigerator. I was hoping they carried some classic AS, but the only item in that category was a vintage bottle in their nostalgia cabinet.

16oz for $1.19, same price as my puck. Williams was probably a dime or 19¢ back then.
Very cool bottle. I can't believe you actually have a shop like that nearby that not only carries Williams but has a vintage section!

I will start on 3017ing my Williams doughnut tomorrow. It has been staring me in the face for the entire month of the FFFMM. I wonder how long it will last?

I have 117 shaves on my current puck of Williams. A hole just opened up in the bottom. There are likely another 100 shaves left in the puck. I've been leaning more towards lather porn on this puck, so it probably won't last 247 shaves like the last one.

Mine broke to pieces today and ended up in my scuttle in the lather. It is now gone. It was a very thin doughnut.

@GaryTha Hey Gary, just curious what’s your lathering method with Williams? Do you bloom, no bloom, face lather, bowl lather? Thanks.

Williams Mug, Old Spice pottery mug, NY SR (Spike), Ever-Ready banded boar. Vintage Williams shave.

I just dropped a second puck of Williams into that deep Old Spice mug, bring up the soap level for easier loading.

That’s pretty much what I found works best for me. Load on the puck with a damp brush then apply to face and add water as needed while face lathering. You don’t really need that much soap or water I find.

My backup puck - should I grate it into a soap stick tube?
I use my MW puck like a shave stick; rub the edge of the puck on my wet face, then lather up; very consistent, nice lather. Then I dry the puck and put it back in the cardboard box. (I use a synthetic brush, and this method works well with synths)

I just bought a Williams puck from a local drugstore. I enjoy the scent which reminds me of Ivory bar soap that I also like.
