What's new

Will you try this? Why or why not??

Hello fellow shavers,
Let's try this for laughs. I am sure that most have already seen the commercial for the new Gillette ProGlide...This thing does everything, but make coffee (but I am sure the NextGen will do that too or better yet, it will be the barber on demand
proxy.php
).

This beast will be available on June 6th. The link to Gillette is:

Gillette.com

Q: Question to those using multi-blade, DE or str8 razors (or anything else for that matter):

Would you try this Gillette or not?? Why or why not?

A: In a different life (not too long ago in my case), I would have jumped at the opportunity to get this, but now that I graduated to str8 razor shaving, there's no going back
proxy.php
. Str8 is the way to go.

Post your answers,
-Robert

I know that I certainly won't try it. Any incarnation of the wretched Fusion is bound to be horrible.
However, I have heard some good things about the Schick Hydro, and might try that out, just to see.

Why would I try this one? It's not new, it's a fusion with a fancy handle...

I left cartridges two years ago, and I really can't see myself ever going back.

+1 the new fusion looks set to be an abomination!!! :a51: of truly horrific and gargantuan proportions. The hydro is apparently perfectly acceptible and will duly begiven a whirl.

I didn't like the original Fusion much at all, five blades is just too much; it's total overkill. Instead of scrapping the Fusion disaster all together, they are trying to make improvements. How do you improve a product that is founded on faulty engineering (namely the idea that more blades is better)??

On the other hand, I picked up a Schick Hydro 3 for a mere $2.99 the other day, and so far through two shaves I have found it to be a very good cartridge razor. It's boring as all heck to shave with, and there is zero challenge in using it, but it's pretty much idiot proof.

Got on the site, never did see anything about the new Fusion... did, however, find a section on "Body Shaving." That was interesting... to say the least! My favorite line was "A tree looks bigger with no underbrush."

Definitely won't. I switched to DE/SE probably 2.5 months ago and haven't missed cartridges one bit. I can't find a good reason to go back to shaves that irritate my face and turn my neck/under-jaw area into hamburger.

I've already went from DE to almost exclusively SE. The next move, when I get the funds, will be to straight razors.

classic.

The intro did have a few good shots of vintage DE's.

No would be my answer. I wouldn't even try it if I got a sampler for free!

Only thing I liked about the fusion was the single blade that helped me keep my goatee neatly trimmed.
Rest of my face was razor burn and ingrown hairs galore. I won't miss it one bit and giving it a second chance with the new iteration would be insane especially with the quality of the shave and the price of cartridges. I would rather use a month old yellow bic than let that beast near my face. :lol1:

Hey Jake,
It's under one of their Flash animation modules...not tabs.

Got it... it had slowed down and let the site do what it wanted to do, instead of skipping ahead, I would have seen it the first time.

Nope... won't use it.

Almost certainly not, but there is no reason to commit to not trying it.

I did buy one of the new three blade Schicks, so I'm somewhat open to trying a new product, even though I haven't shaved with this one yet.

On the other hand, I had never used any of Schick's cartridge razors, whereas I have tried a Gillette Fusion. So there's less of a curiosity factor with the new Gillette.

What's amusing is that so many people will ditch their old fusion to waste money on this new piece of crap.

we should invite the president of gillette to the forums. Maybe they could remake a superspeed or something... :glare:
