Will 95% pure alcohol destroy my Slim Adjustable finish ?

I've read several members on here that regularly dip their razors into iso alcohol after each shave to help force any moisture that maybe on the blade still to evaporate. I can't say I honestly think that will get you 2 more shaves with a blade, but none of them have reported any issues.

Can you get just standard anti-bacterial hand soap? That would work just about as good on all fronts as scrubbing bubbles, combined with good hot water, a soft brush, and elbow grease...

I am thinking for complete submersion for about a day for disinfection. Will it work ?

A good scrub with just anti-bacterial soap will do fine. None of the little critters that would give cause to worry about being transmitted from a previous user can really live long on a razor, even in some soap crud, from everything I've looked up previously. A good solid cleaning with the above mentioned soap will do everything you need it do, and won't have any chance to hurt the finish on a razor. Even anti-bacterial dish soap will work. Think on that one... you use that to wash things you then put in your mouth, right? :)

About 10-15 minutes in a 70% Alcohol/30% Distilled Water blend will kill just about anything you need to worry about. An entire day is not needed. Allow the Alcohol to dry by itself after removing.

You can also order Barbicide and have it shipped to you off eBay.

I dip my razors of all finishes in 151 proof after each use. Rinse, dip in alcohol to disperse water and let air dry. No effects on the finish, and I don't seem to have to clean them of soap scum.
That's my main motivation for the alcohol dip, keeping them clean. I have Barbicide, don't use it anymore. I think you are much more likely to pick up hostile germs from a door knob than a vintage Slim. It's the new blade you put in the Slim that's scraping your skin anyway, not the Slim itself.
Enjoy your Slim!

+1 - the water need not be distilled.

I like using alcohol on razors after every use, but don't imagine that I am using it to disinfect.

A good long soak in hot soapy water, as mentioned above, is probably the best thing to do. You can refresh the water often and use a toothbrush to scrub the razor with between water changes. Soapy water will also help to loosen up any crud that has accumulated in the razor over time - so make sure to work the doors and the adjuster knob every time you walk past the dish.
