Wilkinson

Hi all,

I recently purchased the 'left over' from a ......... blade samper used by another member here on the board (almost all of the blades were still there, he only used about 20 of the 120). Now today I shaved with a Wilkinson Sword DE blade, and it was one of my best shaves I ever had!
Now, the sampler has 2 sort of Wilkinson blades (stainless and economie according to the website), one sort in a plastic, slide out box, the other were put together with some other blades in a Treet package. The blades themself look exactly the same, so actually I have no clue what the name of this blade is (I haven't shaved with the other type, but I'll try them after this one!)
Anyone here who can help?

The ones in the plastic I believe are the "Classic" blades. I'd guess that the classics are the stainless blades (but I don't know this for sure). There are also Wilkinsons made by Gillette, which I find superior. Apparently they own the brand in India which is really weird since I think Shick owns them everywhere else... The Gillette ones will probably come double wrapped in paper. They are sold and labeled as the Wilkinson Platinum Plus. I've never seen or used the "economies," but I'd venture the guess that if they are making certain blades as "stainless" that the others won't be. If you have a blade bank you can see into, you could always mark them somehow when you're done and see which one doesn't rust.

I like the Wilkinson Classics very much. The ones I get are made in Germany and cost about $1.15 for a pack of 5 at the local drug store. They have a white card with black writing on the top of the plastic slide pack.

But the Economie seem to have blue writing on the wrappes, which isn't the case with my blades. I'm starting to think they're just the same, but then I wouldn't see why 4 of the blades were in a different package then the plastic box.

Those look like the economy and the UK blades. The ones I can get are the Wilkinson Classic White Label, listed in the webpage at the bottom of your post.

Here in the uk the ones they sell are in a plastic container with the cardboard cover on and i like these blades a lot, the economie i had in a sampler and as yet not tried.

I remember my mom used to have Wilkinsons in her razor. She had the plastic dispenser type as well. I called dad to see what happened to that razor/blades recently (I lost track of her things after she passed) and he didn't know. Ah well, there mere mention of the name brings back the pleasant memories I have of her.
