Why We Love Edwin Jagger Safety Razors :0)

I started out on a de89 (regular no knurling or lines on the handle) and have never left it, since my inception into wet shaving

The chrome glimmers in the light, is a smooth, non agressive , and comfortable shave

The price (30-45 depending on model) is approachable and reasonable for all budgets

Best Razor I've ever used and the fit and finish is generally superior to Merkur

I love my DE89 and will never switch

I shaved with my EJ DE89 for about 2 weeks then I discovered "THE OC" Not that I don't like the EJ, I just find the Early Gillette OC gets me a closer shave with less irritation. I am sure this is a technique problem on my part with the EJ, probably to do with blade angle. I think It is eaiser for me to maintain a good blade angle with the OC. Not sure why. I definately will revisit the EJ as I gain in experience and get my face conditioned to single DE blades.

Edwin Jaggers are very smooth, forgiving & efficient shavers and is my fallback razor when I have a bad shave with other razors (mostly due to bad technique). Having said that, if you get an opportunity to try another razor, please do so and have fun because you can always come back to your trusted Edwin Jagger should something go wrong!

Edwin Jagger makes a very high quality product with an exceptional finish.

It is a nice moderately mild razor and can easily be anyone's daily driver.

We're happy that you're happy.
I've been wet shaving for a few years now and have bought 40 or 50 razors with 16 in regular rotation now and there has always been an EJ89 in the rotation. They make fine razors.

I use a DE89L nearly every day. It has knocked my beloved 40's Superspeeds out of their number 1 position.

I have a DE89. It does give a nice shave. I don't have a tough beard but I like the feel of a more aggressive razor. So my E.J. doesn't get much use.

Been using my DE89 daily since I discovered DE shaving 2 years ago. Haven't been able to compare it to anything else, but I can't imagine anything else working better on my sensitive face. I did change things up a bit since the Summer, and added an iKon Bullldog handle to my EJ. What a definite improvement!

Edwin Jaggers are great shavers! (I just had to say it :biggrin1: ) When I got my DE89 with the smooth handle I kind of wished I had got the barley handle for some texture at the time. Now, my smooth handle EJ seems so unique and like a breath of fresh hair compared to all of the other "knurled" handles on my other razors. Some of those knurled handles are quite harsh (Weber Bulldog) and almost feel like a rasp when you grab them. Not the DE89 from Edwin Jagger.... smooth and classic..... like silk.

The DE89 is the only razor I have not PIF'd, sold or traded. All others have come and gone with no remorse. Once I put a Bulldog handle on the razor it became exceptional. I can get a BBS with no problem at all. I rotate between the DE89, 1912 and a vintage OC but only out of boredom!

I have had my EJ 89 since before Thanksgiving, and, I Love it!

I am trying others, but, I feel very comfortable with mine, And, am Very Happy that I saw a thread about them, here, when just a lurker.

I would like a different handle, maybe one that I make....but, that is for later.

Glad I found this thread.

I'm new to wet shaving and my first razor is the de89...

My shaves after one week are so good I was wondering whether it made any sense to get another razor...

Truly the DE89 with a feather to me seems nearly the perfect combination/compromise between comfort and close shave.

I just ordered one for my first DE 'cause of all the great reviews here (the Fatboy will get its chance once I get used to the DE89). Can't wait to get it! This thread reminds me that it seems I made the right choice.

The EJ DE89 was my first de razor, and is still one of my favorites. It's almost impossible to get a bad shave with it.

I bought a DE89 after seeing so many positive posts and the price was right. Super shiny, nice, mild decent shaving experience. At first I put it away, wasn't very excited - seemed like a shiny, late model Tech - no real substance.

I just pulled it out, strapped on a Weber Bulldog handle, fresh PoliSilver Iridium and went at it. Very nice!!! Quite a bit more exciting than before. I thought at first I had a BBS shave, no nicks. Now that I'm dressed and facturbating, I notice some missed spots and scruff. Still...all in all a better experience with the alternate handle.

This may now be back as a regular in the rotation!
