Why so many razors?

BigFoot

I wanna be sedated!
I currently use the only razor I own a 1961 Gillette adjustable slim. I know a lot of you own multiple razors. I am sort of getting the bug to buy a 2nd. (Not sure why, I like the adjustable.) I want to stick with vintage. So what are some reccomendations for another razor? I know a lot of you love the fat boy (insanely priced on e-bay). Then a lot of you love the SS. Getting more confused.:001_huh: I was actually thinking about an open comb. I am a bit scared of the thought of them though.:w00t:

So in a nutshell why do I want a 2nd razor I can't shave with both hands? There is a lot of info on the different models off Super Speeds, but what about an open comb. Am I crazy for thinking I want one...will it shave better or worse than my adjustable? I never dreamed DE shaving would become this addicting.....or confusing.

Thanks everyone,
Scott

Scott,

Come to the dark side Scott....lol.

It does not matter if you have 1 or 101. The name of the game is to enjoy life and enjoy your shave. I'm not a big O.C. fan, but maybe I've just not given them a fair shot. I feel the zenith of Gillette's production was a thirty year period from the early 30's to the early 60's. There are plenty of fine models of that era to choose from.

Right now I can not seem to put down the 40's Ranger Techs, Milords and Super Speeds. What ever you choose Scott, don't forget the name of the game........

Pre WW II Tech with the big old fat-handle! You've got a TTO Adjustable--go with the 3 piece!

Honestly, this is my favorite Vintage razor right now.

I love the slim. Great razor. Probably my favorite, too. I'll echo the suggestion for an open comb. If I were to pick one, I'd suggest a bar-handled new. Alternatively, or if you find you like the new, consider an old-type head -- on a single ring or bulldog.
Hope it helps,
-- Chet
