I just got a progress off the bay. But it's different than all the others I have seen, the Dial numbers are separated by vertical lines instead of dots. Also the numbers are painted red and the alingment triangle is also red. So whats the big diff?

It most likely an older model, which is a good thing.
I have a vintage Progress (78-83) that came in the ivory clam shell case and it's slightly heavier and the blade platform has less play in it.
Many believe that when Dovo acquired Merkur quality went down hill.
