In theory, the edge is straight?
Without the scales it's straight!
Because it wont "adjust" to the curves of your face..you make it do that..
Because they don't let you use them in prison - it's therefore not for the bent but the straight!!!

When I mention to anyone about my straight razors they don't know what I am talking about.

Terrible - but that's cos I didn't hone it well yet! Only just put it back in scales and its a challenge to set the bevel on. I think it'll be ok, doesn't feel that different to my normal straights.
All my friends call them cut throats, I really don't like that term though it sounds so crass
In german it's simply "Rasiermesser" (shaving knive) which hits the nail IMO just because that's what it is. A knive for the purpose of shaving. DEs, disposable blades and electric razors are kalled "Rasierer" or "Rasierapparat" (the latter term is reserved vor electric shavers).
