What's new

Why do we hurt the ones we love?

I had recently acquired a lovely deep burgundy (almost black but not quite) Eversharp Skyline, which had rapidly become my favorite 'go-to' pen for the extensive writing I do at work. It has a bit of flex - just enough to add some pizazz to my otherwise humdrum handwriting.

Well, you can see where this is going. It fell off my desk and landed flat - parallel to the floor - not on nib or anything like that. At first I couldn't see any damage. Then a little chunk came off of the cap. Then yesterday a larger crack finally gave way, and with it, about the bottom quarter inch of cap including the gold ring. I imagine it can be glued back together, but I have never found the first little chunk that broke off.

So she's still a lovely writer but not the same. *sigh*

I feel your pain. Last week I pulled a card out of my shirt pocket and my Stipula Bob Voyage went...well...bon voyage. I didn't notice the crack until I twisted off the cap and the whole barrel opened up (eye drop filler)and made a mess of my teaching notes and a couple of books. Like you, I love the nib, but in my case, I don't think it is repairable.
hope you can put it back together again.

Sorry to hear it! In this case the pen is fine; it's the cap that's kaput. But that certainly would keep it from being carried around on a regular basis.

You can likely find a replacement cap on ebay, and it may be worth contacting folks like Richard Binder, John Mottishaw, and others to see if they have a cap they can sell you. I'd be surprised if those guys don't hoard parts.

What Andy said! You may have to go search through some parts bins at a Pen show though.
