Who are you? CURRENT PICTURE A MUST

Born in South Africa in 1968, I came to Scotland in 2007 for a more stable working environment. I grew up with English as a second language, so no problem, I thought. Turns out they don't really speak English as I knew it, but after about 13 years I can almost understand everything that is being said.

Apart from the obvious interest in things shiny and sharp I also enjoy Golf in summer, fishing, touring in our motorhome, cooking and spending time with my family. I met my wife about four years ago in Manila on a trip to visit my son in New Zealand. More or less love at first sight and two years later we were married and she and her daughter joined me in Scotland.

My strictest critic of course is my step-daughter. When she touches my face and detects the slightest hint of stubble, she will rub her hands as if she touched a cactus and say "Daddy! Your fuuuuur! It's so itchy!". After a shave she will be the first to inspect the quality, and if I have done well I will get the "Ooooo, you smell nice!"

Our photo was taken this summer on a beautiful beach in Scotland. Cruden Bay about 15 minutes from where we live. When the sun shines there are few places in the world that can beat it, just a pity it doesn't happen more frequently.

I have been communicating with a few of you over the past two years, and it's nice to be able to put a face to some of the images I had in my mind. The average crowd seems to be a lot younger than I imagined.

Some are very surprising, very funny! The pics are not funny, my pre-conceived images are. I am not going to be impolite and say which. One matches almost exactly what I expected from a 50ish Nordic male :thumbup1:.

Just goes to show again that you shouldn't judge people by the way they look, and you shouldn't put a face to someone you have not seen, based on what they say.

rbscebu I am calling you out. You have been very active, I don't think you are shy. We are waiting!

OK, you win. Here I am, in my office. I'm a professional engineer in a rather specialised field. Now semi-retired, meaning that I only take on challenging projects that interest me. Until the start of this year, I had to do a lot of traveling because of my work. mainly throughout Asia, the Pacific and the middle east.

All my visitors from outside the UK get the compulsory tour of Dufftown for the distilleries, then Inverness, down the West coast to Fort William, Oban, sometimes an Island, back to Aberdeen via Loch Lomond. Without fail they are very impressed. I also like to spend time in Edinburgh and only recently discovered that Glasgow is a lot nicer than I thought. Haven't been to Isle of Skye yet, will put it on the list.

Not a viewable photo of me on the web that is newer than 50 years ago.....

Since 2001 I have been a web hosting provider and run an after the sale private support business for an html authoring software company. I work from a computer screen and lately from a phone, anywhere on the planet that has cell coverage.

I am a dedicated omnivore. My diet consists of anything that I can hook, shoot, dig up, or unwrap. My food moto is "get as close to the dirt as I can". This means very little that comes in cans, boxes, or glass (alcohol excluded). I retired when I was 35 years old.

I have done so much in my short 70 years on this spinning ball that it would fill an entire encyclopedia.

This is the newest photo of me from a craigslist add last week

Then we're both single parents The cub and I had a very long walk in an autumn coloured forest today and I can honestly say that doing such things with this twelve year old boy makes me as happy as can be. These days his hands are as large as mine and when his feet outgrows the size 10 US hiking boots he had on today I'll be happy to call them mine.

I love this time of year, there’s really nice hiking behind my house that we like to explore. Size 10 at 12 wow good luck lol that’s my size too. Take care

Beautiful day here in mid-atlantic US too. I just took my youngest, my 11 yo DD, lazer, on a 8+ mile trail run, she was on a bike. It was phenomenal and we had a great time exploring some trails along a bay branching off of the potomac.

I think my leg is better...

Howdy all! I'm Alan and I've lived in San Diego for the last 20+ years (4 in Tallahassee, FL before that, and 30 in Columbus, OH before that).

I'm currently 59. Divorced once and remarried. A daughter (30 in Seattle, WA) and son (26 in Arlington, VA) from the first, and a stepdaughter (18) from the second.

I'm a Project Manager (software development and process improvement) in Healthcare by day, but a sailor in my heart. I race monohulls and cruise catamarans at every opportunity. We're working out whether we will be retiring (1-4 years) onto a boat (~45') or just have a boat (~30) for fun.

My tattoo is of my spirit animals (polar bear and grey wolf). And I have pierced (and stretched to 6 gague) ears plus a helix piercing. The wife and I love EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and regularly attended festivals and raves until this pandemic hit. There ARE more tattoos in my future. Probably no more piercings...
