Born in South Africa in 1968, I came to Scotland in 2007 for a more stable working environment. I grew up with English as a second language, so no problem, I thought. Turns out they don't really speak English as I knew it, but after about 13 years I can almost understand everything that is being said.
Apart from the obvious interest in things shiny and sharp I also enjoy Golf in summer, fishing, touring in our motorhome, cooking and spending time with my family. I met my wife about four years ago in Manila on a trip to visit my son in New Zealand. More or less love at first sight and two years later we were married and she and her daughter joined me in Scotland.
My strictest critic of course is my step-daughter. When she touches my face and detects the slightest hint of stubble, she will rub her hands as if she touched a cactus and say "Daddy! Your fuuuuur! It's so itchy!". After a shave she will be the first to inspect the quality, and if I have done well I will get the "Ooooo, you smell nice!"
Our photo was taken this summer on a beautiful beach in Scotland. Cruden Bay about 15 minutes from where we live. When the sun shines there are few places in the world that can beat it, just a pity it doesn't happen more frequently.
