Which Tools Do I Need to Make Shave Stick Holders?

I want to test making push up shaving stick holders out of various items, but I know shamefully little about the tools needed. So I need your advice.

a) What tools (& power) would you use to cut off the bottoms and smooth the edges of small glass bottles (eg, spice bottles) or small hard plastic bottles (eg, pill bottles)?

b) What tools (& power) would you use to drill out the inside of a wooden dowel and shape the outside?

a) a dremel should do

b) a drill should do or even a dremel (it depends how precise you want this to be...)

I don't know anything about glass bottles, wood dowels, tools & power. I don't really like push up containers and prefer the twist up kind. If it's a glycerin soap, I melt it in the microwave on high with several 5 second shots of power. Then I pour it into an empty twist up deodorant stick container. If it's a veggie soap, just one 5 second blast in the microwave makes it pliable enough to mold it into a twist up container. Hard milled soaps get grated and formed.

I just buy a $2 stick of Dial unscented deodorant, but to answer your questions:

Sounds like you are going to some really overkill efforts to make a shave stick. But, if that is what you want to do, no harm in that. Any any kind of recycling is great.

You can cut glass bottles pretty easily. Get a glass cutter like the one shown below form the hardware store. Costs $3-$4. Then score the bottle where you want it cut. Heat the score line with a lighter and then dip in cold water. It should pop off. Then get some wet/dry sandpaper to clean up the edge and make it not-sharp.
