I like the look of the STF with the mahogany. The bloom seems to match the bulb of the handle

I voted Synbad + mahogany. Not sure about the knots, but something about the color gradation just looks right!

Ok, so the Synbad is set to go in the mahogany handle. My dad turned another one for the STF - also made from purplewood:
