Which Simpson?

E3 is best, E2 if you prefer smaller knots. [IMHO, as a general rule, for creams you do better with a higher loft-to-diameter ratio; with soaps you do better with a smaller loft-to-diameter ratio.]

If you don't insist on the Simpsons name, you might also profitably check out the Vulfix 2233/2234/2235/2236 line. They're floppy (Vulfix's "Super Badger" is not a stiff hair), but they're heavenly soft, and they do a great job with creams. I have the 2235, and it is big. It'll cover your face in four sweeps (left jaw, right jaw, lips and chin, neck). [Probably the 2236 would lather your face AND your next-door neighbor's in one sweep.] And they're a bargain by comparison with the Simpsons line. While I love Simpsons, I do think Vulfix is underrated by an lot of people.

Thanks for all of the suggestions as they gave been a greaty help. I'm fianlly starting to look to buy brushes for each method I use (i.e face lathering vs bowl, cream vs. soap). I'm going to research a little more and see if anyone else adds in, but will let you know which direction I went, and then hope to add to the review section for the brush I get.

I am a huge fan of Simpson's two band super. I think that the Simpson Ehsan in the aforementioned knot is a great value for an excellent brush that is great for both soap and cream. At just under one hundred dollars, it is a very good value IMHO. The handle has a wonderful feel and the feel of two band super stroking my face is fantastic.

Enjoy your shaves,

Doug

I completely forgot about the Tulip 2 2band. Its a great brush as well. Great handle too

The T2 two band is maybe one of the best all-rounders out there. I find myself using it quite a bit and never really reaching for my others.

+1.

T1 2B Super is my first and will probably be my finest brush. Seems a little small but is still not broken in. T2 should be a super all-arounder.
