Which shape

Hello everyone
I'm ordering my first brush from one of our hobbyist . Which shape of bristle would work
better for on face lathering in the shower. This will be my first custom brush and would like to get it correct. My current brush is a AOS boars head brush that came in the fullsize kit. Now it's getting old and starting ti scratch.

Thanks

I'm not convinced it makes a huge difference.I face lather and have a couple bulbs and a fan. They all work about the same, and while they all feel different, I'm inclined to think it has more to do with hair grade and density than the shape

I agree with bassopotamus on the shape, bulb or fan, not making much difference, at least not for me. The size of the knot, its loft and the grade of hair, if a badger, are more important. Are you ordering a badger or boar brush?

Boar bristles normally will split on their ends and become less scritchy with use, so I'm not sure what you're experiencing. I take it that your current brush was less scratchy when new?

Have you ever cleaned it? I had a badger start feeling scritchy with use once. I think what happened is that I have really hard water, and it was building up lime and probably leftover soap that wasn't rinsing away. I shampooed it, gave it a soak in vinegar, and it was good as new.

I can't say I know much from experience here (I only have one brush a synthetic HIS from Beauty Strokes), but theoretically a fan shape should put less wear and tear on the bristles while face lathering. Conversely a blub shape should make bowl lathering easier on the brush. As other posters have said, shape shouldn't make much difference in the ease of producing lather, and to be honest I doubt that the shape will make much difference in longevity (maybe +/- 2 years out of 10 or 20 if you use the brush exclusively).

Having tried both TGN finest in bulb and fan, i prefer the bulb. The fan is less concentrated and the splay is less controlled, it is still a great knot, but I feel the bulb has the edge there.

Hi gang
I'm looking at 2banded silver tip finest in 22mm.

My brush get cleaned after each use and we have soft water so no build up. My brush is about 3yrs old at this time
And I guess from What I've seen it's a fan type. Any other suggestions

I'm pretty new to brushes. I'd be inclined to take the advice already given. However, I do have an opinion. I think the fan shapes are sexier and look great sitting on the shelf in full bloom. The bulb shape is a little more utilitarian to me, but is likely a better shape for what you are looking for.
