Which paste to use for primary strop?

So I'm new to straight shaving. Actually, I was going to purchase my first straight tonight, then I realized I know nothing about pastes.

I can only afford one strop for a while. Which pastes should I get immediately and which can I hold off for?

You don't need any pastes for a little while. Just pick up a decent strop. Low budget would be Whipped Dog.com or Ambrose might have a beginner too or ruprazor.com If you need anything maybe cromox but it is only 3 or dollars at the most. Heck I'll give you some when you need it. All you need for the first month or two is a Razor (shave ready) and a strop.

You won't want to put paste on your only strop. If nothing else, once you're getting the hang of it, pasted balsawood from whippeddog.com is a great cheap alternative.
