Which order - balm or splash?

I like the scent of many splashes, but feel I need a balm afterwards to put the fire out and moisturize. I see quite a few here do both. So my question is -

1) What order should you apply them?

2) Does the scent from the balm interfere with the one from the splash?

Thx in advance.

I put the aftershave on 1st. After it dries down then apply the balm, usually Nivea Sensitive, which doesnt have much of a scent, if any.

If I'm going to use a scented balm, I'll apply Witch hazel 1st, instead of the scented
aftershave product.

Splash, dry, balm. Most splashes have a pretty fleeting scent anyway (at least mine do, with the exception of Clubman - I use Proraso, Musgo Real, various Royalls, Aqua Velva, etc.). For stuff like Musgo and Proraso, I have both balm and splash, so there's no scent conflict anyway.

splash then balm too, and im always aware of what I use so it doesnt clash with whatever cologne I use (and I match where I can)

I think I'm the only person who applies the balm first and then the splash. I've never tried it the other way though so I will try that on my next shave and see how it works. Since we're on the subject I just used my Family Dollar Old Spice for the first time today and I think it smells great. Only $1.75too, not bad.

Like most, I go the splash, dry, balm route.

At the moment my balms are "unscented" so they don't clash with the splash.

LOL...that should be a quote somehwere..."heeeyyy maaaan...step off, Jack, don't clash with my splash!..."

I actually find both Proraso and AV to have strong scents that stick around for quite a while and could easily clash with a balm. Of course, they just might be like that on my skin.

As for the combo, my skin isn't really dry so most days I just use a splash. If I combine, I do like most others and "splash, dry, balm" while coordinating scents between the splash and balm, or making sure one is unscented. I mainly use balms in the winter when my face dries out a bit.

Well, yeah...I wasn't very clear there, was I? Lol. AV definitely has some staying power, but when I use it, I go solo, and don't use anything else (balm or scent)...it's sort of my go-to for those days where I want to travel light as far as products used goes. Proraso and Musgo only go with their companions, as they do have some staying power.
